Could 2025 Be The Year To Improve Your Smile?
With a wide range of cosmetic dentistry available here in Chelmsford, we can help you with a winning smile!
We know that Christmas is still over a week away, and that most of you are very busy right now, but sometimes it is a good idea to look a little further ahead when we get a few moments to ourselves. For those who get a break from work over the festive period, this can be a good time to think ahead to the new year and what you would like to achieve in it.
While we may not be able to help you find new employment or meet somebody new, we can help you to make a few changes that may just help you to achieve this. It is well documented that people are attracted to a friendly and attractive smile and this appears to be true both in a job interview and meeting a potential new partner.
Hopefully, the ideas that we mention in today’s blog will provide you with some food for thought about ways that you can improve your smile. If you would like to find out more about any of these, please feel free to contact us for further information.
Teeth whitening
For those of you who already have a fairly attractive smile , but with teeth that are dull or discoloured, either through lifestyle habits or simply through becoming older, a teeth whitening treatment might be ideal for you. This is a non-invasive and affordable treatment. Using a bespoke at home teeth whitening plan, we can help you improve the whiteness of your teeth by several shades in just a couple of weeks or so. You will be able to choose the degree of whiteness you would like beforehand.
The effects of this treatment last for a long while and when they start to fade, you can simply choose to continue the treatment if you wish, without any risk of harm to your teeth.
Porcelain veneers
Not everyone will have teeth that are ‘flawless’ bar some discolouration of course. Our Chelmsford cosmetic dentists are here to help you too. One popular treatment that can be very effective for people with minor flaws such as cracks in the teeth or small chips missing from them are porcelain dental veneers. Unlike a teeth whitening procedure which improves what is already there, porcelain veneers replace the damaged and discoloured or stained tooth surface. It does this when we remove a very fine layer of the affected enamel from the front surface of your teeth, followed by the taking of impressions. These impressions are then used to produce your custom veneers which are attached to your teeth using a special adhesive. Modern veneers are highly effective and can last for ten years or more with good care.
Teeth straightening
Some people have nice teeth that are slightly misaligned, perhaps a little crooked or overlapping another tooth in a small way. Others may have more significant alignment problems. Both of these issues can usually be corrected using orthodontics. For minor corrections, a traditional method using wires and brackets can be used. Unlike traditional braces though, the materials used are both finer in nature and made from tooth coloured materials. This method can help to straighten your teeth in just a few weeks in some cases, but this will vary from person to person.
For more significant misalignment of the teeth, it may be more effective to use modern orthodontics in the form of transparent trays that fit over the teeth. These are produced once scans etc have been taken, after which you will receive a series of ‘aligner’ trays. These are worn for a short while before being replaced by the next one in the series, gradually straightening your teeth until they are in the correct position.
Unlike regular dental braces, this method is not only more discreet but convenient too. Unlike traditional braces, your teeth straightening ‘trays’ can be removed during mealtimes and also when cleaning your teeth.
Dental implants
All of the above are effective at improving your smile. If you don’t have all of your teeth, and especially in the more visible front part of the mouth, then they can only partially improve the way that your teeth look. To replace missing teeth, you can have a bridge or dentures, but for a really effective and natural looking solution, dental implants should be considered. These replace not only the visible crown part of a tooth but the tooth root also. This provides them with a high degree of strength and stability.
